TransForm: The Caterpillar is the Butterfly
The first fundraising fashion show organized by Red Cross Palilula and designer IglaIgra.
The project ‘TransForm Life – The Caterpillar is the Butterfly’ presents a blend of new tendencies in fashion design (recycling and the use of unusable objects), and new reforms and innovations within the traditional program of the Red Cross: the useless value of clothing is transformed into money and gives recourses for solving current problems.
On this first redesign fashion show, on December 22nd in Dom omladine Belgrade, we will present unique redesigned clothing that was created by processing second hand clothing in cooperation with the designer IglaIgra TransForm. Every redesigned article has its identity, name and life story (it goes through every developmental phase from caterpillar to butterfly). Together they create A Whole – A One, and through symbols, they point out the possibility of change of human life and its circumstances.
An auction will be held after the show where visitors will be able to buy clothing. Collected funds from the auction will be directed to humanitarian causes for purchase of winter footwear for children of the squatter neighborhood Mali Leskovac. The project belongs to the program of the Center for Youth Integration which works on the inclusion of children, from socially vulnerable surroundings, in state institutional frameworks. These funds will help the children walk to their kindergartens and schools in warm and dry boots. An audio-visual program will follow the complete event.
Humanity has various forms. This time it takes the form of TransForm: clothing, quality of life, the possibility of a civil initiative.
