The Short History of Forgetting, Part 1
Author: Andjelka Nikolic//ND: Irena Ristic//Production: Hop.La!
Support: The Secretariat for Culture of the City of Belgrade and the Ministry for Culture of the Republic of Serbia
The Short History of Forgetting, Part 1 is an intermedial work which explores the phenomenon of remembering and forgetting on the personal and collective level. It also asks the question how much these processes affect the forming the identity of an individual and culture. The artwork was inspired by the play That Time by Samuel Beckett and the essay collection The Robbed Memory by Manfred Osten.
The work is comprised of interactive sequences which, through combining sound, light, video and the activity of performers, set the visitor as the subject of a fictive remembrance. It confronts the public with puzzles and paradoxes which follow the process of searching for lost time, be it of an individual existence or a time in history.
The number of viewers per performance is limited, so please announce your visit at hopla@hop-la.org
