FEST
During this 40th anniversary of FEST, the public will see in the premiere program 75 films and around 30 artworks in the homage and retrospective program.
With its 40 editions in 42 years, FEST has become a must in Belgrade’s cultural life, including the best and most notable international and national films.
About 4000 films have been shown to date, viewed by almost 4 million viewers. An array of the best directors, actors and filmmakers, both national and international, has left their mark on FEST.
For that reason, this year’s 40th FEST boasts an interesting slogan:
XL – Among The Greats
On top of representing the Roman number 40, XL symbolizes the long illustrious history of the Festival and promises to bring international film stars on the 40th FEST. As of February 24, we will be watching the films of Terence Malik, Roman Polanski, David Cronenberg, Gus Van Sant, Steven Spielberg, Aki Kaurismaki, Nani Moreti, Lars von Trier, Clint Eastwood, Pedro Almodovar, George Clooney, Jodie Foster and many others films from small countries, which are as usual given a prominent place on FEST. The films we will present this year have been shown and awarded on the most renowned international festivals in the previous year: Cannes, Venice, Toronto, Berlin, Karlovy Vary, Rome, Manheim and Rotterdam. All this brought to you by a most excellent jubilee FEST!
