Series of photographs "Balkan Hotel" is an attempt to overcome the past and to move forward with a touch of warmth and humor. It is neither the first nor the last project that deals with the confrontation with a complicated past, nor it represents ambivalent act of its deleting.
Photos in this series are dealing with the effects on subjects, some of the monumental social changes, a shift in the social system itself, on personal, symbolic, somewhat filmic way. The series contains the 'shots' and their sequences in the form of diptych and triptych; the space between parts (diptych or triptych), contains a shift in time.
Selection of the photographs from the series is shown at the exhibition Balkan Art Week in London in 2008, on the exhibition Possible Identities within the project Border Disorder in Istanbul in 2009 and in the Frieze Art Fair in London in October 2009.
The exhibition will be open until January 25th, 2010.
