When an event reaches it's 25th birhtday, it is cause for celebration. If a manifestation, which enriched regional culture with systematic "revelation" of jazz to our audience since 1971, then it is reason enough to concieve the program of BJF as a jorney from its begginings, through current trends in jazz, to the future and beyond.

Memories7:30 PM Sextet Markovic - Gut (Serbia)
Guest: Jovan Miković - saxophone
Almost 25 years since their last performance, one of the most important Serbian jazz bands of all time is in front of the audience again - at the opening of the jubilee Belgrade Jazz Festival.
9:30 PM Gabi Novak and Croatian All Star Jazz Ensamble (Croatia)feat. String Quartet "Kornelije", Kristijan Beluhan and Marko Đordjević.
Gabi Novak supported by the best selection of Croatian jazz musicians, led by her son Matija Dedić, returns to that what made her a star at the beginning of her career, at the end of the fifties - Jazz standards!

Dizzy Gillespie played on the stage of Dom sindikata in 1971, at the first ever held BJF, and with five performances he is a record holder among American artists who have performed on this manifestation. Some of his friends are still persistant keepers of the memory of this legendary trumpetist.
21:30h Tomasz Stanko (Poland) / ECM JubileeWe mark 40 years of ECM, one of the most famous avant-garde record labels, with a concert of one of the strongest artistic phenomenons that EMC gave us - an extraordinary trumpeter who deserves to be compared with Miles Davis.

A Star of modern American jazz, one of the most famous saxophone players of today, with a renowned program which reconstructs the original be-bop sound of the 52. street club in New York.

9:30 PM Anat Cohen (Israel)
She is the one of the biggest hopes of the world jazz scene, a multiple talented clarinet and saxophone player, who improvises on themes that range from jazz classics, over classical and Latin American music to Jewish folk melodies.

Kurt Elling, comes from the famous Chicago school (like Patricia Barber) is currently the most famous male jazz singer of today. The new program, which will be performed at the BJF is a review of the legendary cooperation between saxophonist John Coltrane and singer Johnny Hartman. With ten consecutive titles as the best soloist according to critics of Down Beat, five Jazz Journalist Association Awards and eight Grammy nominations, Elling is an authentic contemporary art superstar.Friend of the 25th BJF: Erste Bank.
