25th Belgrade Jazz Festival

25th Belgrade Jazz Festival will be held from October 29th to November 1st in the halls of the Dom omladine Belgrade , Dom sindikata and Kolarac. Presale of tickets, as well as sets for bargain prices begins on September 25.
The main program of 25th edition is designed as a journey from the beginnings of the festival toward its future.
We will recall past days with Markovic-Gut Sextet, no doubt one of the most important Yugoslavian and Serbian jazz bands of all time, which gathers exclusively for the festival opening, through the cooperation of Gabi Novak and Matija Dedić in specially created program of jazz standards, to the carrier of Allstars, continuer of Dizzy Gillespie band, which performed on the first Belgrade Jazz Festival in 1971. Present will be examined through multiple fresh Grammy Award winners, i.e. sets led by trumpeter Terence Blanchard (music writer for Spike Lee films for years now), saxophonist Joe Lovano (with his faithful reconstruction of Charlie Parker’s be-bop sound) and singer Kurt Elling (fantastic innovative vocals, by which manages to sing even Coltrane layered melodies).
The future will be seen through one of the most talented new musician in general, clarinetist Anat Cohen and through midnight program at Dom omladine Belgrade .
